Small plates called "Mamezara" have been used to serve food on festive and special occasions in Japan. These Mamezara are made in Hasami in Japan and shaped like traditional Japanese lucky charms.

In particular, the combination of pine tree, bamboo, and plum is called Shochiku-bai as a symbol of good fortune and good luck.
It has been chanted at celebratory occasions and used as a design for gifts in Japan.

These plates are also perfect size as plates to organize small miscellaneous goods such as accessories and stationeries. They will add some accent to your desk and room.

  • Matsu(Pine Tree): Green
The pine tree is an evergreen that does not wither in winter and retains its dignified appearance, so it has the meaning of "longevity and prolongation of life.

  • Take(Bamboo): Pale blue
Bamboo is not easily broken and grows fast, so it was considered a symbol of "vitality and growth".

  • Ume(Plum Flower): Pink
The plum tree has been prized since ancient times for its beautiful flowers with a noble fragrance that blooms in early spring before other flowers, even when the tree is old enough to grow moss. For this reason, it has been regarded as a symbol of "nobility and longevity".

  • Fuji(Mt. Fuji): Indigo
Fuji is a symbol of "immortality and longevity" because Mt. Fuji is pronounced the same as "immortality" in Japanese. It is said that dreaming of Mt. Fuji, especially on New Year's Day, is a sign of good luck.

  • Hyotan(Gourd): Ivory
It has long been said that gourds are inhabited by divine spirits and purify the air by absorbing evil spirits in Japan. It is also believed that the unique shape of the gourd can contain evil spirits once they have been absorbed. For this reason, gourds have been widely used as charms to bring lucks and keep away evil.
