Stainless steel Measuring spoons with Surikiri.
Made by Wahei Freiz
Wahei Freiz is one of the biggest suppliers of cookware in Japan since 1951. The company was established in Tsubame-Sanjo which is a major production area of metal products in Japan. Since then, they’ve been producing various types of products, from cookware such as pots and kettles to kitchenware including dish drainers and shelves.
This little kitchen tool has been my favourite since I was too young to cook!
Growing up, I remember my grandma using a stainless steel measuring spoon to make Yomogi mochi for us every time she visited. I loved the sound it made and the Surikiri Stick that measured the perfect amount like a magic.
In my mother’s generation, a lot of companies started making plastic measuring spoons which looked cute and colourful. But most of them didn’t have Srikiri.
Now I am again using these Stainless steel measuring spoons with Surikiri which looks almost exactly as they did when my grandma was using them, simple and light.
