Gorohachi bowl is known to have been made by potter Takahara Gorohachi from the Hizen (present-day Saga and Nagasaki prefectures) in the early Edo period(1603~1651).
The bowl was widely used in that era not only for rice, but also for sake, tea, and side dishes. It's a piece that truly represents a vessel for daily life.
568 is from the Chinese character for Gorohachi.
