Metal Kenzan / Japanese Ikebana Flower Frog
Metal Kenzan / Japanese Ikebana Flower Frog
Simple and beautiful Japanese Kenzan made in a small factory specializing in flower arrangement metal tools in Nigata prefecture, which has a long history of metal crafts.
Kenzan, known as flower frogs or pig frogs, were invented to hold the plant material in place, traditionally used for Japanese ikebana flower displays. This solid metal Flower Frog is heavy for its size and features brass pins.
Kenzan are becoming popular for western style flower arranging, doing away with less-sustainable florists foam or water beads. They can be placed in the bottom of a shallow dish of water and used to hold small flowers and stems upright.
