Vintage Tomica No. 44 Nissan Fairlady Z432 Police Car | 2000 Black Box Reissue

A little piece of Tomica history, complete with its retro black box.

This Tomica No. 44 recreates the Nissan Fairlady Z432 as a Japanese police car, with the long hood and fastback shape of the early Fairlady Z finished in classic black and white. The red beacon, bright red interior, and Japanese 警視庁, meaning Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, lettering give it plenty of character from every angle.

This wasn’t just a toy-car fantasy. The Fairlady Z432 really was used by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police highway patrol in the early 1970s, including for high-speed patrol duties on the Chuo Expressway.

The original Tomica's No. 44 model was first released in the early 1970s. This particular edition was produced by Tomy in 2000 as part of Tomica’s 30th anniversary reissue series, bringing back the look of the early black-box Tomica for a new generation of collectors.

It is an official reissue made in China, rather than the original 1970s Japanese-made version. Although it is a reproduction of an earlier model, it has now become a collectible piece from the year 2000 in its own right.

The 1:60 scale car features opening doors, rolling wheels, and working suspension. A fun display piece for Tomica collectors, vintage Japanese car fans, or anyone who appreciates the unexpected sight of a classic Fairlady Z dressed as a Tokyo police car.
