This unique handbag, created by an artist from Kyoto, uses recycled traditional kraft rice bags.
Lately, traditional rice bags from various parts of Japan are in the spotlight for their unique designs. Each design showcases the dedication of the rice farmers and highlights the distinct features of the region where the rice was grown. The styles vary from elegant and artistic to quirky and one-of-a-kind.
The rice bags are crafted from strong, laminated kraft paper. To enhance the durability of the recycled handbags, persimmon tannin coating, a traditional Japanese technique known as "Kakishibu", is carefully applied by hand in the final stages of production.
The bag is perfectly sized for daily use, picnics, or beach trips.
Being handcrafted, they are rare and difficult to come by.
